Alwayne Love Releases New Song "Africa The Motherland"

Marcus Garvey famously said that, “A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots.” For many years, that is exactly how Alwayne Love felt.

africasonsLike many black people, he was deceived by misinformation about Africa for years, until he did his own research about the continent. That newfound knowledge resulted in his song, Africa The Motherland, released on June 29 by T25 Records.

“I did not learn enough about Africa as a student in high school except for the (Trans-Atlantic) Slave Trade which was quite depressing and did not promote any further interest in understanding the Motherland,” said Love. “Songs like these are done to motivate, inform and encourage young and old about the vast impact that Africans had and still have on the world.”

Africa The Motherland expresses much of what he discovered about the region through extensive research on social media. Love found out that Africans were never the barbaric savages European scholars depicted, but the cradle of modern civilization.

“It’s where mathematics, geometry and so many other disciplines and cultural practices have been invented or created, that has tremendously shaped our world today,” he said.

From St. Mary parish in eastern Jamaica, he recorded some of his initial songs as J Love. Africa The Motherland is produced by Steven Ventura, and distributed by T25 Records out of New York. It marks his comeback to the music industry.

What better way to mark that return, Alwayne Love thought, than with an educational song.

“This song is undoubtedly a classical outburst of motivation for those connected to the Motherland by blood or spirit to embrace their heritage with enthusiasm and respect,” he said.
