Antiguan Singer Causion Releases 'Mission in Progress' June 24
Antiguan singer Causion plans to give himself a nice birthday present on June 24 with the release of ‘Mission in Progress’, his seven-song EP.
It contains songs like ‘Thank You’, his latest release, and the patriotic ‘Antigua me Come From’. He co-produced ‘Mission in Progress’ with keyboardist Maurice Gregory, a former member of Third World.
The songs were recorded during a challenging period for Causion, a longtime South Florida resident, who has endured serious health issues in the past four years.
He credits a strong personal and professional relationship with Gregory for the recording sessions going smoothly. That cohesion can be heard on ‘Thank You’, which hears Causion giving thanks to the Almighty for taking him through tough times.
"Thank You is very personal to me. I wrote that song at a time when there was a lot of stress going on in my life and even though all the things seem to be going in the opposite direction, I was still grateful for all the things that my Father had given me and had blessed me with," he said.
It is the follow-up to ‘Antigua me Come From’ which is used as part of the Antigua Tourist Board’s advertising campaign to attract visitors to that country.
Causion (born Gregory Bailey) also made his acting debut in ‘Deep Blue’, a movie produced and directed by the husband-and-wife team of Howard and Mitzi Allen, who are also Antiguan.
Influenced by Jamaican acts like Third World, Causion has been recording music for over 30 years. He has toured the United States and Europe with that Grammy-nominated band.
On several of his songs, he has collaborated with Gregory, younger brother of deejay Papa San.
