Kingston Waterfront Comes Alive with Amateur Night on the Mound Talent Showcase

The Kingston Waterfront came alive last nightat the opening night of the second annual staging ofAmateur Night on the Mound, a Roots, Rock and Reggae based talent competition series unearthing hidden talent in the Downtown Kingston area.

Performers who outdid themselves at last night’s staging and will move on to the next round of the competition on Tuesday, February 11 are: singjays - Kush Bashan, Imar Music and Fullest; poets - Mystik, Imotech, RasShadii, and Dawitt; and Grime, the sole dancer.

“We saw immense, raw talent showcased here tonight, both the judges and audience members were equally impressed. It makes me excited for the upcoming weeks of this competition, becauseI’m sure that we willcontinue to be impressedby the rich talent being unearthed here at the Kingston Waterfront,”said Andrew Clunis, Director of Marketing and Public Relations at the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC).

“The persons selected tonight will move on to the next round of the competition. On the final night on Tuesday, February 25 we will see the finalists from all the various nights competing for awesome prizes, while the audience will also be in for some excellent surprises!” Clunis continued.

 Performers who were not successful last night should note that they may try again at upcoming Tuesday shows, however they must do so with a different performance item. 

Persons who are interested in registering to perform at Amateur Night on the Mound may do so by signing up at Island Coffees Café or Devon House I Scream locations at the Victoria Pier on the Kingston Waterfront.

Amamteur Night on the Mound is a collaborative effort with the Victoria Pier establishments: Island Coffees Café, Devon House Ice Cream and Board Walk Bistro and the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC).
