Under Kings of Kings Productions, Colin “Iley Dread” Levy Releases "Speak the Truth"

When Colin “Iley Dread” Levy formed Kings Of Kings Productions in 1995, his primary objective was to release uplifting songs that reflected his Rastafarian faith. But he also knew that producing hot dancehall ‘riddims’ would also win him hip fans.

Colin “Iley Dread” LevyOver the years, the Toronto-based label has earned its dancehall stripes with monster riddims like the Coolie Dance and Martial Arts. Their latest effort is the Premier League which has songs by several top artists.

Released in July, the first song released on the beat is Speak The Truth by Turbulence. According to Levy, singles by Capleton, Jah Thunder and I-Octane will follow soon.

“This is our first dancehall juggling in 10 years and we are very excited about it. The focus was to top all the others in terms of production and vibes, and I know we did that,” he said.

Levy returned to the music scene in late 2023 after a five-year break. In addition to reviving Kings Of Kings Productions with a handful of releases including the Premier League, he continues to record songs as an artist for other producers.

His latest song is Ina America, produced by Andrew JR out of Ghana. It is a collaboration with Bayku, a rapper Bayku from that West African country.

“It has been receiving unwavering support. We are delighted and grateful for the love and positive energy shown towards this single,” said Levy, a Jamaican who has lived in Canada since 1990.

He launched Kings Of Kings Productions in Montreal, during a period when roots-reggae was making a comeback in Jamaica through artists like Garnet Silk, Tony Rebel and Everton Blender. It was one of the dominant reggae labels during the late 1990s and early 2000s, with most of their projects being well-received roots albums like Persistence by Norris Man.
