City of Miramar Awarded $20,000 Tree Count Assessment Grant From Florida Urban and Community Forestry

MIRAMAR, FL – The City of Miramar through its Public Works Department was awarded a $20,000 matching grant from the State of Florida Forestry Division to perform a tree count and assessment of the trees located within the City of Miramar’s public and Right of Ways (ROW) areas. Through this grant, the City of Miramar contracted with national vendor, Arbor Pro USA for these services.

Miramar’s City Manager, Vernon Hargray stated, “By way of this 2018 National Urban and Community Forestry Grant Program, and with our vendor, we documented each tree type and number, assessed the condition of and mapped over 8,000 trees within the municipal boundaries of the City of Miramar. Although incomplete, this has been a good start to inventory the trees in our parks and thoroughfares.”

As part of the program, the City of Miramar will enter a 3-year subscription service exclusive to Arbor Pro and its clients to continuously monitor, track and inventory the 8,000 assessed trees.
