Trinidad Providing Shelter For Marine Vessels as Hurricane Beryl Approaches

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – The Trinidad And Tobago Government Sunday Said It Is Providing Safe Passage For Marine Vessels, Including Yachts And Other Pleasure Crafts As Hurricane Beryl Is Expected To Affect Several Caribbean Countries In The Coming Days.

The Ministry Said That According To Preliminary Data On Arrivals From The Marine Services Association Of Trinidad And Tobago Over 100 Vessels Are “Enroute To Trinidad And Tobago While Some Have Already Safely Arrived Based On The Global Positioning System (GPS) Used By The Association To Track Vessels Positioning On The Sea”.

It Said That All Border Agencies, Including The Division Of Customs And Excise, Immigration Division And Port Health Have Been Activated To Process The Arrival Of The Vessels From The Eastern Caribbean Seeking Shelter And Protection From The Hurricane.

“During This Emergency, Trinidad And Tobago Stands In Solidarity With Its CARICOM Brothers And Sisters, Especially Those In The Eastern Caribbean. To Reaffirm Our Commitment To All Marine Stakeholders Attempting To Escape The Path Of Hurricane Beryl, We Wish To Advise That All Customs Fees Have Been Temporarily Waived As A Measure Of Goodwill,” The Ministry Added.
