FPL and Partners Help 200 Miami-Dade Homebound Disabled Residents in Little Haiti and North Miami

Florida Power & Light Company (Fpl), And The Meals On Wheels Program Provided By The Miami-Dade County Community Action And Human Services Department Partnered To Help 200 Miami-Dade Homebound Disabled Residents In Little Haiti And North Miami Stock Up On Emergency Food Supplies To Prepare For Hurricane Season.

flpflpfouRecently, Fpl And Miami-Dade County Community Action And Human Services Department Meals On Wheels Volunteers Helped Pack Hurricane Food Kits To Deliver To Homebound Disabled Individuals In Little Haiti And North Miami For Use During A Hurricane Emergency.

Several Hundred Emergency Food Kits Were Delivered To Prepare Homebound Disabled Individuals For Hurricane Season. Each Kit Includes A Three-Day Supply Of Nutritious Shelf-Stable Foods For Breakfast, Lunch And Dinner, As Well As Snacks And Water.

In The Event Of A Storm, Meals On Wheels May Not Be Able To Get To The Homes Of Residents It Serves, So These Kits Provide Necessary Food Until It’s Safe To Resume Regular Deliveries.

These Emergency Food Kits Will Help Ensure Those Who Are Homebound And Disabled Are Prepared In The Event A Storm Hits. During This Covid-19 Pandemic Taking Care Of Our Most Vulnerable Residents Is More Important Than Ever.

Recently, Volunteers From Fpl, Joshua’s Heart Foundation And City Of North Miami Beach Mayor Anthony Defillipo’s Office, Helped Pack And Distribute Hundreds Of Nutritious, High-Quality Foods For Families Who Continue To Be Affected By The Covid-19 Pandemic.

In Addition To The Groceries, Which Were Part Of A $10,000 Donation Fpl Made To Joshua’s Heart Foundation For Its Continued Covid-19 Hunger Relief Efforts In The County, Fpl Volunteers Also Offered Important Information To Help Residents Prepare For Hurricane Season.

Food Insecurity Continues To Be A Reality For Many Including Those Who Are Most Vulnerable Like Our Children And Seniors. Partnerships Like These Help Ensure More Residents Have Access To Food As Covid-19 Continues To Affect Our Communities.
