Mayor Wayne Messam Named 2nd Vice President of African American Mayors Association and Receives Prestigious Award

Miramar, FL, May 23, 2024 — The City of Miramar proudly announces that Mayor Wayne Messam has been named the 2nd Vice President of the African American Mayors Association (AAMA). In addition to this prestigious appointment, Mayor Messam and the City of Miramar's Economic Development & Housing Department have been awarded the AAMA's Maynard Jackson Award for Economic Development Initiative for their impactful KOFE Financial Literacy Series.

wayneebThe KOFE (Knowledge of Financial Education) program, in collaboration with Consolidated Credit, has been instrumental in enhancing the financial literacy and well-being of Miramar residents and employees. This comprehensive financial wellness program provides a variety of resources including interactive courses, budgeting tools, workshops, and personal financial coaching. These efforts have empowered participants to achieve greater financial stability and make informed financial decisions.

The KOFE program was initiated in 2015 by Consolidated Credit and offers an array of educational formats such as webinars, eBooks, infographics, and one-on-one counseling sessions.

Mayor Wayne Messam stated, "It is an honor to serve as the 2nd Vice President of the African American Mayors Association and to receive the Maynard Jackson Award. Our partnership with Consolidated Credit through the KOFE program has significantly improved the financial health of our community.
