Summer Lunch Program at Arcola Lakes Library: Fridays 1:00 - 1:30 through 8/14

The Sisters of Abundant Living are providing free lunches here for children and teens 18 years and younger on Fridays in the front of the library from 1:00 - 1:30. It's also being done at 14 other library branches at various times only on Fridays. Other non-library locations are assigned to different days of the week.

This is part of the Summer BreakSpot free summer meals program.  For other dates and times near you, go to: https://summerbreakspot.freshfromflorida.com/ and type in your address. This will give you a list of locations with dates and times.

Here are some guidelines that were sent to library staff but are useful for parents/guardians on how it operates:

  • The Sisters for Abundant Living will set up a ‘Grab and Go’ meal box once a week on Fridays that contains 7 breakfasts and 7 lunches without the need to enter the branch.
  • Meals will arrive at the branch and be served from a lunch truck, Sisters staff will set up approximately 15 mins before meal service.
  • The child is not required to be present, the adult picking up the food for the child must provide one of the following:  student ID, Report Card/ Progress Report, or Student Portal access.  The Sisters for Abundant Living staff does not need to collect the data, but the parents need to have it available. An adult can pick up multiple boxes as long as they have identification for each child.
  • Sisters for Abundant Living staff will be on site for the duration of the meal service, they will handle all of the required paperwork and distribute the meals.
  • The program is for youth 18 and under.
