DOH-Miami-Dade Congratulates Dr. Reynald Jean as a 2019 Health Care Hero

Miami, Fla. –Dr. Reynald Jean, Director of Tuberculosis Control and Prevention, Epidemiology, Disease Control, Clinical Laboratory, Immunization Services and Public Health Preparedness for the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County (DOH-Miami-Dade) is the proud recipient of the 2019 Health Care Heroes Award in the category of Health Care Professionals.

Dr jeanThe Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Health Care Heroes Award recognizes the collective actions of the individuals, institutions and programs that have made an extraordinary impact in the South Florida healthcare community and whose acts of heroism represent a display of dedication to excellence in their area of expertise beyond the scope of their profession.

Dr. Jean has been with the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County since 1989. He is a dedicated medical physician and director who provides strategic leadership in implementing and managing three Tuberculosis clinics, four Immunization clinics as well as the Epidemiology and Disease Control Programs and the entire operations of the Clinical Laboratory, HIV/AIDS Surveillance, HIV Perinatal, Injury Prevention, Animal Bites, Water and Foodborne Disease, Lead Poisoning and Prevention, and Public Health Preparedness. He also oversees the Zika clinics for pregnant women.Dr. Jean led the entire Zika response for Miami-Dade County, and was involved in the identification of every single case. He coordinated testing among the major hospitals and public health laboratories, and developed and managed processes for Zika test results. Dr. Jean oversees and manages a budget of $10 million dollars and 164 employees. He is a dedicated physician, director and innovator and has made many outstanding contributions to the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County.
