A Hotelier, An Artist and Art Patron, and a Neurobiologist to Receive Prestigious CARAH Awards in Washington, DC

Washington, DC - Haiti's Evens Charles, Jamaica's Donnette A. Cooper, Esq. and Guyana's Andre Fenton, PhD are honorees for prestigious awards at the 26th Caribbean American Heritage (CARAH) Awards Gala, on November 22nd, organized by the Institute of Caribbean Studies (ICS). 

Honorees Evens Charles will receive the Outstanding Entrepreneurship Award, Donnette A. Copper, Esq. the Forerunner Award, and Andre Fenton, Ph.D. the Vanguard Award.

Other honorees for awards include three other Jamaicans, Hon. Michael Lee-Chin, OJ (Marcus Garvey Lifetime Achievement Award), Professor Dr. Kingsley Chin, MD (Excellence in Medicine Award), Roy 'Gramps' Morgan (Outstanding Contribution to Reggae Music Award), Martinique born Euzhan Palcy (Luminary Award), Trinidad & Tobago's Winnette McIntosh Ambrose, PhD (Trailblazer Award), and Dominica-born USVI-raised Erwin Raphael (Outstanding Contribution to Corporate America Award).

The event is hosted by Kojo Nnamdi, 1994 CARAH Award for Outstanding Journalism and Guyana's award winning host of The Kojo Nnamdi Show and The Politics Hour, produced by WAMU 88.5 FM, an affiliation of NPR. 

The evening will end with a Red Carpet After-Party with live music from Washington's top Caribbean band, IMAGE, and livestreaming on Facebook in partnership with The Jamaica Diaspora Show and CaribNation TV.

The Caribbean American Heritage Awards is preceded by the Invest SMART Caribbean Forum on November 21st & 22nd which will convene leaders to explore the theme "Enabling Climate Smart Investment in the Food-Energy-Water Nexus.

RSVPs to the 26th Annual CARAH Awards are required by November 18th. The Gala and the earlier Invest SMART Caribbean Conference is a gathering of the Who's Who in Caribbean America and an opportunity to network with leaders across a variety of spectrum.
