OPA-LOCKA, Fl. — Over one hundred public officials, community based organizations, and district one residents gathered to join Miami-Dade County Commission Vice Chairman Oliver G. Gilbert, III, City of Opa-locka Mayor Matthew Pigatt, Commissioner Joseph L. Kelley, Vice-Mayor Veronica Williams, and the City of Opa-locka City Commission for the Public Dedication and Codesignation Ceremony for Commissioner Barbara Jordan Way on March 24.

Commissioner Jordan at one point became very emotional thanking the guests and reminiscing about her service. She vowed to continue to be a stallworth for her community. The portion of NW 37th Avenue from NW 135th Street to NW 151st Street was ceremonially named Commissioner Barbara Jordan Way.
