153,000 Miamians Voted for Our Movement

Hello,

melpeThis campaign launched in January with a simple idea - everyone should be treated equally in Miami's criminal justice system. I am immensely proud of what we accomplished - the reform movement in Miami has taken a significant step forward. I want to offer my deepest gratitude to everyone that joined this movement and fought for change.

We didn't get the result that we wanted this time, but the fight is far from over. This movement can't stop until police are held accountable. This fight can't stop until everyone - regardless of race, gender, geography, or wealth - is treated equally in the justice system. I won't give up. You can't either. There are too many lives impacted for us not to keep pushing forward.

I do not know what's next for me, but I know it doesn't end here. Over 150,000 people voted for our movement of accountability and equal justice. I hope you are proud of what we accomplished. I'm proud of what we did.

I think about what Angela Davis said, "You have to act as if it were possible to radically transform the world. And you have to do it all the time."melpearMelba V. Pearson

This movement will continue.

In solidarity,
