A nation in mourning

On Saturday I joined my fellow Americans in peaceful civic action to demand justice for George Floyd, an unarmed black man who was brutally killed by a Minneapolis police officer.

Daniella Levine CavaI find myself struggling to explain to my grandchildren why in 2020, our fellow Americans continue to suffer from such tragic acts of violence based solely on the color of their skin. As a country we must do better.

In the tradition of the Civil Rights Movement, we should all support peaceful demonstrations and demand reforms to our system. This is how we raise public awareness and put a spotlight on injustice.

We all have an obligation to stand in solidarity with people of color who have faced violence and systemic discrimination at the hands of our criminal justice system for generations.

With Gratitude,

Daniella
