PORT OF SPAIN Trinidad – Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley is scheduled to visit the United States early this month to undergo medical tests regarding his heart.
“There was a time when I didn’t have any such condition and like I said I had no such symptoms that slowed me down or caused me to think, but I have to be aware and modern technology allows one to be aware of what is happening with you,” Rowley told reporters prior to his departure for California.
Rowley said he was “delinquent” in dealing with the situation after his doctors had informed him of the matter in 2017.
“I should have gone back to do these tests last year September, but that was the budget time and so on and son on and I put it off …
“So I really should have done that last year … So I am going to take it now.”
Rowley said he should be out of T&T “for a few days,” but he is confident “the government is in good hands and will continue to function at full throttle.”
