Sam Clayton Jr., one of the first Jamaicans to participate in bobsledding, died last month from complications of the novel coronavirus.
Clayton Jr., 58, was reportedly working with the railroad when he was recruited to participate in Jamaica’s bobsled in Oct. 1987. Although he did not make his nation’s Olympic team, Jamaica’s participation gained global fame through the movie “Cool Runnings”. He later went on to work in the reggae music business, becoming a sound engineer.
