KINGSTON, Jamaica – Sprint hurdler Ronald Levy could be ruled out of the Jamaica team for next year’s Olympic Games in Paris after his “B” sample returned positive for two banned substances.
This confirmed the finding of GW 501516 Sulfoxide and GW 501516 Sulfone in the “A” sample of the Olympic 110 metres hurdles bronze medallist by a World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) lab from an out-of-competition test last month in Canada.
Media reports indicate Levy now faces a hearing in front of a panel from the Jamaica Anti-Doping Agency (JADA), and he could face a four-year ban from the sport that will also rule him out of the the next two World Athletics Championships in 2025 and 2027.
The 31-year-old from Westmoreland, the 2018 Commonwealth Games 100 hurdles champion, confirmed earlier this month on his Instagram page of being notified of the adverse analytical finding on November 3.
He did not reveal the names of the drugs, but he vowed to defend his integrity and was “certain he did not knowingly breach the rules”.
