Reggae Boyz Open Group Stage of CONCACAF Gold Cup 2023 Against Reigning Champions

MIAMI, Florida – Regional powerhouses Jamaica will open the group stage of this year’s CONCACAF Gold Cup with a clash against reigning champions and hosts United States, in a repeat of the 2021 quarter-final.

jamboysReggae Boyz open the Gold Cup group stage against United States.The 9:30 pm (Eastern Caribbean time) Group A fixture will be contested at Soldier Field in Chicago on June 24, and is the only game scheduled for the opening day of the June 16 to July 16 biennial confederation showpiece.

In their last Gold Cup meeting in Glendale, the Reggae Boyz went down 1-0 as the confederation giants went to clinch their seventh title by edging Mexico in the final.

Jamaica take on Latin American side Nicaragua in their second outing four days later in St Louis before clashing with a yet-to-be-determined qualifier from the 12-team preliminary tournament, which runs from June 16-20 at the DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.

Haiti, one of the only two other Caribbean Football Union nations to qualify directly for the group stage, take on guest side Qatar, the AFC Asian Cup Champions Qatar, in the opening Group B fixture at NRG Stadium in Houston on June 25.

The French Caribbean side follow up with a difficult visit to Glendale to take on Mexico on June 29 before closing out their group campaign against Honduras in Charlotte on July 2.

Cuba, meanwhile, face Guatemala in their Group D opener in Fort Lauderdale on June 27, travel to Houston to take on a yet-to-be-determined qualifier on July 1, before clashing with Canada three days later at the same venue.

Trinidad and Tobago will be among the 12 teams vying for the available group stage spots.

They face Guadeloupe in their opening game and will take on the winner of the fixture between Guyana and Grenada, once they advance.

If T&T progress, they will be installed in Group D.
