MIAMI, Florida – St Kitts and Nevis suffered a chastening defeat when they were hammered 11-0 by Costa Rica in CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup qualification on Monday.

CGCupsaMelissa Herrera (9th, 73rd, 80th) and Priscila Chinchilla (25th, 40th, 67th) both struck hat-tricks, laying the basis for the Kittitians’ demise at the Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in San José.

María Elizondo opened the scoring as early as the fourth minute before Herrera netted her first and Raquel Rodríguez (22nd, 58th) stretched the lead with the first of her brace.

Alexandra Pinell made it 4-0 in the 24th and once Chinchilla converted her first two goals, St Kitts were on the ropes at 6-0 down at the break.

The second half was more of the same, Herrera adding two more goals to complete the rout, which took Costa Rica top of Group C in League A on three points from two games.

Haiti, who play St Kitts on Tuesday, are also on three points but with superior goal difference after beating Costa Rica 1-0 last Thursday.

In the other games played in League C, Khalydia Velasquez (48th, 64th) netted a brace with her goals coming in either half as Belize brushed aside Aruba 3-0 in Group A in Belmopan.

And in Group D, Cayman Islands played to a 2-2 draw with Anguilla in an entertaining contest in George Town.
