Florida-based Naomi Osaka, whose father Leonard Francois is from Haiti, basks in the glory of winning the women’s title at the 2019 Australian Open tennis tournament last month.
Osaka, whose mother Tamaki Osaka is Japanese, beat Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic in three sets, 7-6, 5-7, 6-4, to earn a second straight Grand Slam title after winning the U.S. Open crown last year. Osaka’s success vaulted her to the world number one ranking.
