Tallahassee, Fla. — Following De Santis signing SB 168 into law, Andrew Gillum made the following statement:
“Ron Desantis' anti-immigrant legislation signed today is an extension of Donald Trump's atrocious attacks on immigrant families across the country,” said Andrew Gillum.
“Florida should be a welcoming state, with a legal and just immigration system, not a fear-mongering walled-off community. We stand with immigrant families, and American families of immigrant descent, against legislation that enables their profiling, mistreatment, and abuse.”
“In signing this bill, Ron Desantis is endorsing a dangerous policy that aims to frighten, target, and persecute thousands of families currently enriching our state and country with their talent, culture, and work. This goes against who we are as Floridians, and as Americans."
