School Board Vice Chair DR. Steve Gallon III Was Honored to Receive the “GLO” Award at the 5TH Annual Generational Cure Black & White Gala

On Saturday, May 22, 2021 School Board Vice Chair Dr. Steve Gallon III was humbled and honored to receive the “GLO” Award, in honor of Gloria Ford at the 5th Annual Generational Cure Black & White Gala for his unselfish contribution to the learning and lives of our youth over the past three decades. Their mission is to “Uproot the inherited issues of our older generations to cure the prolonged problems in today's youth.” They seek to provide “a beacon for those concealed within a repetitive cycle of dead ends.”

Jamaica and Cuba Extend Education Agreement

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaican schools will continue to benefit from professional and academic support provided by Cuban teachers, following the signing of an agreement between the countries on Wednesday to extend the bilateral cooperation in education.

At Congressional Briefing, Dr. Calvin Mackie Details Platform for Increasing STEM Comprehension in Urban and Minority Communities

WASHINGTON - Outlining a platform to increase STEM careers in urban and minority communities, Dr. Calvin Mackie, founder and president of STEM NOLA, told a congressional briefing that children must be exposed to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education at an early age and K-12 teachers need better preparation to be more effective.

Bahamas Shows Appreciation to Somerset Academy Miramar Teachers

PLANTATION, Florida –  Representatives from the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism & Aviation’s (BMOTA) sales and marketing team took time out earlier this week to present gift beach bags loaded with Bahamas branded items to the teachers of Somerset Academy Miramar Charter School, in Miramar, Florida.

BMOTA Reps built a relationship with teachers at Somerset Academy Miramar Charter School, and during Teachers Appreciation Week last week, recognized teachers for their commitment to students by providing them with Bahamas branded gifts and inviting them to travel to The Bahamas.
