FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – On Saturday, February 12^th, United Way of Broward County partnered with Publix Super Markets to distribute more than 1500 Publix gift cards, totaling $30,700, to Broward County Public School Teacher of the Year Nominees during the “Tools for Teachers of the Year” event.

MIAMI-DADE – Small Business owners in District 3 may apply for the Keon Hardemon Small Business Grant Program. Business owners who meet the eligibility requirements can receive up to $10,000. Grants awarded may be used to purchase equipment, supplies, advertising, marketing, inventory, building liability insurance, security systems, local or state licenses, software, rental deposits, and minor renovations.

Boston, MA - The Authentic Caribbean Foundation (ACF) will be holding its fifth annual Afro-Caribbean Black History Gala & Awards on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at the Florian Hall, Boston, MA. The gala evening will begin with a cocktail reception at 6:00 p.m. followed by an exciting program at 7:00 p.m. which will feature a live band. Washington, D.C. - A push to get Jamaica’s first national hero Marcus Garvey’s name cleared of criminal charges in the United States is back at center stage. Caribbean Americans will be saluting the contribution Jamaica’s first national hero made to the world during a special Black History Month celebration in the USA February 20.

Miss Jamaica Festival Queen 2021, Dr. Dominique Reid, a dentist, has launched Phase 2 of Project Healthy Smiles Jamaica (PHSJ) her national outreach project, which will see the Queen travelling across the island to give free preventative dental health care to students in coming weeks.

MIAMI, FL – Brightline, the only provider of modern, eco-friendly, intercity rail in America, has partnered with The Black Archives History and Research Foundation of South Florida for Black History Month to host an art installation featuring original works by Purvis Young, a renowned artist who was born in Liberty City and lived and painted in historic Overtown. Brightline’s headquarters and MiamiCentral station are also located in Overtown, and the collaboration underscores its commitment to support and positively impact local communities throughout South Florida.
