Top UN Haiti Envoy Hails Commitment to Hold New Elections

UNITED NATIONS – The United Nations Special Representative for Haiti has acknowledged the legitimacy of Prime Minister Claude Joseph to lead the French-speaking Caribbean nation following the “cowardly” assassination of President Jovenel Moïse on Wednesday, and welcomed his government’s commitment to hold national elections later this year.

Nikki Fried Raises $812k in 1st Month of Gubernatorial Campaign, $2.18 Million Cash on Hand

Tallahassee, Fla. — Today, Agriculture Commissioner, and Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Nikki Fried is announcing her fundraising for the month of June, the first month of her campaign for Florida Governor. Nikki’s campaign raised a total of $812,544.18, with her campaign account bringing in $396,376.23 and her political committee, Florida Consumers First, raising $416,167.95.

Crist to Desantis: Investigate Florida’s Big Presence in Capitol Siege

St. Petersburg, Fl—Congressman Charlie Crist says the many Floridians arrested (47) during the January 6 Capitol siege warrants an investigation by a bipartisan group. Florida has the dubious distinction of tying Texas for the most arrests in the riot to undermine the certification of Joe Biden as President.  Joined by State Attorney Andrew Warren, Crist called on Governor Ron DeSantis to assemble a bipartisan panel to examine Florida's link to the violent insurrection that overwhelmed capitol police. The incident resulted in several deaths and numerous injuries to capitol police. Crist, a Democrat running for Governor, said, "This is stunning, and for our public safety, we need to understand why."

Arguments Start in Appeal Against Election Petition Ruling in Guyana

GEORGETOWN, Guyana – The Court of Appeal will resume hearing arguments on July 29 in the appeal filed by supporters of the opposition coalition, A Partnership for National Unity and the alliance for Change (APNU+AFC) against the decision of the High Court to dismiss an election petition challenging the results of the controversial March 2 regional and general elections last year.
