MILWAUKEE—The Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) released a selection of excerpts from the remarks of speakers as prepared for delivery who will address the Democratic National Convention.

The theme of Monday's program is “We the People.” This convention is about Americans rising up to take our country back—and move forward as a nation together. As we have learned throughout our history, when we stand united, we can overcome anything, including the monumental challenges we face today. With Joe Biden as president, ‘we the people’ will mean all the people.

I am Kionne McGhee. Daphine Campbell is a registered nurse from the Caribbean. She entered representational politics in 2010 and served as State Representative for 6 years and State Senator for 2 years. Throughout her career, former Senator Campbell accomplished many things both for her constituency in House District 108, Senate District 38 and for the entire State of Florida. She was instrumental in championing several bills including: “Medical Malpractice,” “Affordable Housing,” and “Haitian American Nurses Awareness Week,” Caribbean American Heritage Month.

MIAMI —Early Voting for the August 18, 2020 Primary Election begins Monday, August 3 and runs for 14 consecutive days through Sunday, August 16 at 23 convenient locations throughout Miami-Dade County. WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (FL-26), member of the Judiciary Committee and the first member of Congress from South America, questioned Attorney General Bill Barr about the Trump administration’s response to the protests in Portland; blocking states from implementing COVID-19 precautions; attempt to dismantle the Affordable Care Act (ACA); and election interference. During her testimony, she shared back-to-back footage of Maduro’s security cracking down on peaceful protests with footage of U.S. officers cracking down on peaceful protesters in Portland. 

Miami-Dade County – On July 27, 2020, County Commissioners unanimously adopted legislation sponsored by Vice Chairwoman Sosa, urging the State of Florida to provide relief to residents struggling to pay their property taxes in the wake of COVID-19 and the resulting economic impacts. 

Recently, the Florida Education Association formally endorsed House District 117 candidate Kevin Chambliss for State Representative. “FEA’s biggest asset is our members and their dedication to electing pro-public education candidates,” said Fredrick Ingram, President in his letter of endorsement. “As such we will be recommending your candidacy to the members who live in your district and urge them to help you achieve victory this cycle.”
