Every young person deserves an advocate; someone to listen, guide the way, and provide support; particularly given the last two years of social distancing and limited social interaction with classmates and friends. Many students have expressed feeling worried, overwhelmed and even fearful. Mentorship can greatly impact a student’s mental health and well-being by helping them overcome these feelings; and by improving their self-esteem, school performance and social skills.

The endless procession of persons falling ill to this pandemic is mind numbing, and almost everyone knows someone personally, or has a relative who has succumbed to this plague of biblical proportions. “It’s as if this damn virus has come to wipe out mankind,” is what I hear people saying.

UNITED NATIONS – When Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley stood up in front of the United Nations General Assembly earlier this year, she was not in a mood to pull punches. In front of world leaders, she decried the “faceless few” who were pushing the world towards a climate catastrophe and imperiling the future of small-island states, like her own.
