MIAMI —The Quiet Zone established in Miami-Dade County will officially take effect at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, July 8, along the Florida East Coast (FEC) railway, from NE 79 Street to County Line Road. This Quiet Zone will be an extension of the existing Quiet Zone, currently in effect from PortMiami to NE 79 Street within the City of Miami.

This college-wide initiative by MDC’s Learning Resources department encourages summer reading, and will run through Saturday, Aug. 3, at all MDC’s campuses.
Miami, – Motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death for teenagers in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2,433 U.S. teens ages 16-19 were killed in motor vehicle crashes in 2016. That means six teens ages 16–19 died every day from motor vehicle accident injuries. Fortunately, most motor vehicle crashes are preventable, and proven strategies can improve the safety of young drivers on the road. Since 2013, Miami Dade College’s (MDC) School of Justice has offered the Advanced Teen Driving Safety Program to help prevent teen accidents. The next session will take place on Saturday, July 27, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., at MDC’s North Campus.
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - In celebration of Caribbean American Heritage Month Kulture Klothes and Step in Time are hosting a one-day Caribbean cultural exhibition in Miami Gardens. The “Step in Time Caribbean Artifacts Display” will be available for viewing on Thursday June 27th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the North Dade Regional Library, 2455 Northwest 183rd Street. Members of the public are invited to attend this free, family-friendly event.
MIAMI – The Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board (HAAB) under the Office of Community Advocacy, hosted a forum covering the changes in immigration policies and potential effects on Miami-Dade County, lawful permanent residency, and the 2020 Census. The event took place on May 22 in the City of Doral Government Center, a municipality with a high number of Hispanic residents.
