Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department Hosts Fourth Drive-Thru Pet Food Bank to Help Pet Owners Provide for Their Pets

MIAMI —To help provide relief for Miami-Dade County’s pet owners during this time, Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department will host its fourth Drive-Thru Pet Food Bank on Thursday, June 4, 2020, from 9 a.m. to noon (or while supplies last), at Lake Stevens Park located at 18350 NW 52nd Ave, Miami Gardens, FL 33055. The pet food distribution is made possible with dog and cat food donations from The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) as part of the national ASPCA COVID-19 Relief & Recovery Initiative.

Broward Re-openings Extended for Beaches, Racquet Sports

BROWARD COUNTY, FL –  County Administrator Bertha Henry issued Emergency Order 20-14 on Friday, May 29, which further addresses Phase 1 reopening guidelines to slightly expand beach activities, clarify the use of community rooms, allow for doubles racquet sports, expand massage establishment services beyond those medically necessary and allow tattoo establishments to open. The new Order takes effect on Monday, June 1 with the exception of the racquet sports provision, which took effect upon issuance.

Miami-Dade Transit is Resuming Service on Monday, June 1

MIAMI  —The Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) will restore all Miami-Dade Transit services on Monday, June 1, while continuing to monitor the current situation. As events evolve, adjustments may be made. At this time, Metrorail, Metromover, and Metrobus will resume, as closely as possible, back to their New Normal schedules tomorrow.

Registration is Now Open for "Animation Gets Real Miami 2020" Virtual Summer Camp for Teens With Autism and Related Disabilities

MIAMI —Registration is now open for the “Animation Gets Real Miami 2020,” summer boot camp for teens and young adults with autism spectrum disorder and related disabilities.  Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) public health emergency, the camp will be held via a Zoom virtual classroom and will explore the exciting world of animation and filmmaking as students learn real life skills, including animation; writing and editing; storyboarding; and iPad music making. The registration deadline is June 5, 2020, and can be completed at miamidadearts.org/content/animation-gets-real-registration-form.

Vice Chairwoman Sosa Distributes Surgical Masks and Hand Sanitizer

Miami-Dade County – On Saturday May 30th, 2020, Vice Chairwoman Rebeca Sosa will host a free drive-thru distribution of surgical masks and hand sanitizer to the residents of her district. The event will begin at 8:00 a.m. and take place on NW 65th Avenue between Blue Lagoon Drive and NW 7th Street (Entrance via Blue Lagoon Drive only). Supplies will be distributed on a first come, first served basis while supplies last. 

June 1st Target Date for Reopening of Beaches in Miami-Dade County Pools in Private Communities,Such as Condominium and Apartment Complexes

MIAMI  —Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez has announced that the reopening of pools in condominium and apartment complexes and other private communities will coincide with the June 1st target date for the reopening of beaches. The pool reopenings will be subject to certain restrictions. The Mayor and medical experts will review the rules and recommendations later this week. The announcement came during a virtual meeting on Sunday, May 24, 2020, with the mayors and city managers of Miami-Dade County's coastal communities and the medical experts.
