Caribbean Bar Association Raises Funds for Scholarships, Hurricane Dorian Relief and Installs New Officers

MIAMI, FL–The Caribbean Bar Association (“CBA”) held its 23rd Annual Scholarship and Awards Gala on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the Marriott Miami Biscayne Bay, in Miami, Florida. The Gala is the primary fund raiser for the CBA’s Scholarship Program, which funds paid judicial and public service internships for law students in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.  This year, Juana Cetoute and Kishel Stubbs, students at FIU College of Law, and Abdel C. Reyes Torres, a student at the University Of Florida School Of Law, were recognized as scholarship recipients.

Miami-Dade County and MSC Group,Shipment of Humanitarian Supplies for Residents of The Bahamas Affected by Hurricane Dorian

MIAMI — Miami-Dade County and MSC Group, one of the world’s leading container shipping and logistics conglomerates as well as the parent company of MSC Cruises, in collaboration with PortMiami and other maritime partners are assisting the people of The Bahamas with humanitarian aid, including a shipment of over 200 gas generators, tarps, cords, water, canopies and gas cans, among other items of necessity for the victims of Hurricane Dorian.

City of Miami Partners with Global Center on Adaptation to Open First U.S. Office in Miami

Miami, FL - Today, the City of Miami and Dutch government officials finalized an agreement that will bring the Netherlands-based Global Center on Adaptation’s (GCA) first U.S. office to Miami. Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management Cora van Nieuwenhuizen joined Mayor Francis Suarez in Miami to sign the joint declaration. The GCA’s new Miami regional office will join branch offices that opened in the Dutch cities of Rotterdam and Groningen last year.
