MIAMI-DADE – Nazario Saint Louis, a 19-year-old junior at Georgetown University studying international economics, was undecided about his future career path. But that all changed after his experience working for lobbying and consulting firm Floridian Partners as part of Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan’s Summer Youth Internship Initiative (SYII) internship. Working side by side with lobbyists, he learned the inner workings of the relationship between local government and private enterprises.

Jordan, Signature Flight Support, the Miami Dolphins, Atlantic Aviation, Walmart, Target, and Miami International Airport teamed up to give away well over 525 book bags and school supplies such as pencils, erasers, sharpeners, composition books, notebook paper and three-ring pocket folders to children in need in District 1.
In the next five years, 145,000 teachers will be needed to meet the nation’s critical shortfall. The School of Education’s Center for Professional Development has taken a proactive approach to resolving the shortage locally with initiatives to streamline the process of getting highly qualified educators into area classrooms.

Padrón Completion Scholarship Fund to support Miami Dade College students who are close to completing their degrees or certificate programs.
