CHTA President Predicts Rapid Return of Caribbean Tourism

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico  - Pablo Torres, the president of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA), predicted the Caribbean will see a return of tourism to the region, “faster than many parts of the world,” thanks to the protocols and partnerships implemented throughout the region to help lessen the effects of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Tourism Officials Eye Peak Season With Cautious Optimism

MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA – With the peak Tourist Season set to get underway on December 15, tourism officials are expressing cautious optimism that the industry will continue to experience a recovery. On Saturday, December 12, more than 4,000 passengers arrived on the island: the highest daily arrival count since borders reopened on June 15.

CHTA Shares Optimistic Outlook for Tourism’s Recovery

MIAMI, Florida  - As the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic continues to impact global tourism, top Caribbean private sector tourism leaders are asserting that tourism is the region’s best hope for recovery and renewal and that the successful revival of the sector relies on its ability to enhance its strengths while simultaneously reshaping itself to adapt to a changing global environment.

New Tourism Agency Boards Convene to Discuss Strategy on the Way Forward

MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA – The newly appointed board of directors of the island’s leading tourism agencies: Jamaica Vacations Limited (JAMVAC), the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB), Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCO), the Montego Bay Convention Centre (MBCC), and the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) met recently at the Montego Bay Convention Centre. During this difficult period in global travel and tourism, the work of the various boards is even more critical as they provide oversight of these national agencies.

U.S. Virgin Islands Sees Light at End of Pandemic Tunnel

U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS  - The U.S. Virgin Islands Commissioner of Tourism has cautioned that while a Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine is on the horizon, protocols and guidelines implemented to protect lives and livelihoods in the Territory should not slacken.
