Florida Medical Center Receives Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center Certification

Lauderdale Lakes, – Florida Medical Center, a comprehensive stroke center, is awarded the Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center (TSC) certification from The Joint Commission, in collaboration with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA). This certification signifies the hospital meets rigorous standards for performing mechanical endovascular thrombectomy (EVT), a specialized surgical procedure used to remove a blood clot from the brain during an ischemic stroke.

Increased Ear, Nose & Throat Services in Central Jamaica

Previously, persons needing surgeries to remove foreign objects from the oesophagus would have to be transferred to hospitals in Kingston; however, through the kind donations of the Manchester Wellness Foundation, residents in central Jamaica can now access enhanced ear, nose and throat services at the Mandeville Regional Hospital (MRH) in Manchester.

Increase Funding to Combat HIV/AIDS in Minority Communities

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (FL-26) applauded significant bipartisan House passage of her amendment to an appropriations package to increase the allocation of funding for the Minority AIDS Initiative Fund by $5 million.
